Between late Friday night, May 12 and early Sunday morning, May 14, a number of cars at Eden caravan parks were broken into, with various possessions stolen.
Far South Coast Police have taken reports regarding six different vehicles, however officers suspect there were more break-ins or attempted break-ins that have not been reported.
Items stolen included wallets containing cash, personal papers and cards, a camera, camera bag and accessories, pocket knife, adult jackets and a Toyota branded sports bag.
Chief Inspector Anthony Moodie of the Far South Coast Local Area Command said this is not the first time this has occurred in Eden.
“Just prior to Easter, holiday makers in a number of Caravan Parks in both Merimbula and Eden had their cars broken into and possessions stolen,” he said.
“This no doubt leaves a very poor taste in the mouths of our visitors. Police have been talking with our park managers and have undertaken a number of tasks to try and identify the persons committing these offences.”
Chief Inspector Moodie said there is no doubt in his mind that there are people not involved in committing the offences, that know who is involved.
“We need members of the public who have information, to share that information with us,” he said.
Eden Police are also urging residents to remove their possessions from their vehicles and to lock their cars.
“Without blaming the victims here, a common denominator in the cars broken into were that on most occasions they were left unlocked. Its obvious the temptation has become too much for some of our local criminals."
Police are urging anyone with information in relation to these incidents to call Eden Police on 6496 1444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page: https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au/.
Information provided will be treated in the strictest of confidence.
