Jennie Keioskie, from Southern NSW Local Health District’s Rural Adversity Mental Health Program, will conduct the free training as a part of the Tree of Life project.
Tree of Life – which was set up in Eden to tackle the high incidence of suicide – trains members of the community to feel confident in supporting anyone in crisis.
The training sessions provide participants with an introduction to mental health and illness.
Feedback from previous training sessions has been positive with attendees commenting on the clarity of the information provided and its value to the community.
The Tree of Life – We Care window sticker will be supplied to all businesses who attend the training. It can be displayed in premises that are willing to assist a person in crisis by making a phone call to get help.
People who are interested in attending the training sessions and offering the support to the community are invited to leave a name and contact number with Liz Doyle at Grand Pacific Health’s Bega office on 6494 8800.
