Swimmers and their support crew endured the heat on Saturday and then tried to stay warm and dry in the rain on Sunday.
Through the conditions Eden swimmers participated well, created lots of memories and achieved some new personal best times.
Georgia Caldwell, 13, and Emily Walker, 9, both won their age group championship, while Jack Caldwell, 10, was runner-up in his age group.
Out of 18 clubs in the SESA area, Eden club placed eighth in the overall pointscore.
“This was a pleasing result considering that we had just nine swimmers and were competing against clubs with many more competitors,” a spokeswoman for the club said.
Swimmers 12 and under are eligible to compete in the Speedo Sprints and some club members have qualified to compete in the finals series of this competition - Emily Walker, Rosy Ryan, Phoebe Miller and Jack Caldwell.
Locally, the club has started our annual club championships with some of the distance events already being completed.
Swimmers of the week were Hunter Upton for completing the 200m individual medley for her first time and Brodie White for a three second PB in her 50m breaststroke. Also picking up vouchers this week were Phoebe and Charlotte Miller for recent great swimming.
March 3 will be the club’s business house fun relay.
“We are inviting members of the community, businesses and family groups to come together to support this fun night,” the spokeswoman said.
“All you need to do is round up a team of four people to complete a four by 50 metre relay.”
Entrants don’t need to be fast - you can use flippers and swim any style you want, it’s all about consistency.
Swimmers set an opening time and have to try and match it in subsequent heats to stay in the running.
You could be the slowest on the night and win!
This event is being organised by the swimming club to raise funds to purchase a blanket to keep Eden pool warmer.
“Get together, form a team and come along to have some fun.”
