A WIRES spokesperson said they are especially in need of volunteers in Eden as the Merimbula based volunteers are stretched too thin and are unable to attend all call outs in the Eden area.
There are strict rules and regulations around becoming a wildlife carer. Those interested would need to have a lot of time on their hands and be willing to cater to the needs of the animals which could range from flying foxes to wombats or even seagulls.
The accredited WIRES Rescue and Immediate Care Course cost $175 and was held last weekend. But anyone in the Eden area who was unable to make it to the course which ran in Bega is encouraged to contact WIRES for more information by emailing Training@wires.org.au
