Explanation needed
Cr Robyn Bain has not apologised to me at all. The first I knew of any apology was when I read about it in the paper.

Her insults show a worrying lack of regard for facts. The truth is I am passionate about the community and spend much of my time volunteering and advocating.
It is totally inappropriate for her to suggest that she pay for an investigation into her conduct.
Many people are concerned that she may have a conflict of interest regarding the Australasia. She needs to explain her relationship with developers and provide details of her discussions with them.
Amanda Midlam, Eden
Hotel of no significance
As a regular visitor to Eden I am astounded as to why the council would want to invest money in the old Hotel Australasia site. With respect, this building is so ordinary that the best thing for Eden would be the demolition and redevelopment of the site to enliven the town centre.
In my opinion it has no significance to qualify for heritage.
From reading the comments by Robyn Bain, she needs to be congratulated for having the courage to be upfront and telling the facts as they are.
Why would council ever vote to spend money on buying dilapidated buldings when it is always stating it does not have the money to carry out essential works throughout the shire, including sewerage extensions at Eden and further works to finish the upgrade on the town centre?
It is there to encourgae attractive development by the private sector. We may have a past, but our most important task is to build a future and recognise the past has gone.
I note the comment by the previous mayor Michael Britten. What did he achieve during his tenure?
He followed the trail set by councillor Bill Taylor and they both paid the price by being voted out of council. Many would suggest the next councillors and mayors who fail to achieve should sit back and retire gracefully so that new councillors have the chance to build a better future.
It is admirable to see the genuine concern of the people who wish to retain old buildings, but please choose those that are worthwhile keeping and have merit to be maintained.
The old Hotel Australasia lacks any merit for retention and it would be more beneficial to Eden for it to be sold and the monies invested in worthwhile infrastructure and the like. Council should not be involved in any future acquisitions of buildings and they should let the property market play its role for the future of the shire.

Bellbird Hill backup
It would be very much appreciated if those who arranged so expeditiously for the double lines down Bellbird Hill could arrange for two roundabouts on the highway at Irene Crescent and Barclay St please.
I have observed a car overtaking on the new double lines already by the way.
The net effect come Christmas time, and as is now already occurring, is that long lines of traffic are getting caught up behind trucks and caravans making it a long wait to enter the highway if you live on the left hand side of the highway heading south.
It will be soon be exacerbated by the holiday traffic heading north.
The solution is simple – a couple of roundabouts. Could the good doctor from Broadwater arrange with council and the RMS to get this done? As quickly as they painted the road lines?
As Isaac Newton apparently said, “For every action there is always opposed an equal reaction”.
It would have been good to have thought through more fully the consequences of having no passing lane from before the national park turnoff to as you enter Eden in a 60km zone.
