EMHS student Anna Auer won the Lions Youth of the Year Club Final and Kiah Miller won the Public Speaking Award, as presented at the Pambula-Merimbula Lions Club on Tuesday, November 22.
After interviews with the judges, the students gave two impromptu speeches on the ‘problems that farmers face in 2016’ and ‘how to encourage youth to remain in the Bega Valley’, followed by a five minute prepared speech on the topic of their choice.
Ms Auer’s chosen topic was "tertiary education should be free" and Kiah spoke on "equality for all".
Mentoring the four students was EMHS teacher Rowan Drowley, who acknowledged the excellent job of all the students.
Ms Auer will represent the Pambula-Merimbula Lions Club and Eden Marine High School at the Zone finals in Merimbula in February 2017.
