A parenting workshop with a theme of ‘bringing up great kids’ will be held over three days at the Eden preschool, starting this week.

Co-facilitator Kellie Bateman, a social welfare worker, said the program is hosted by the Far South Coast Family Support Service and endorsed by the Australian Childhood Foundation.

“The program uses ideas of mindfulness and reflection to support parents and self care, to review and enhance patterns of communication with their children, and to promote more respectful interactions and encourage the development of children’s positive self identity,” Ms Bateman said on Tuesday.

The course is being offered in Eden in response to increased referrals via outreach services, Ms Bateman said.

A free lunch and refreshments are offered in a “safe and welcoming environment”, at the Eden preschool on Thursday October 20 and 27 and November 3, from 10.30am to 1pm.

Parents are encouraged to come without their children.
