Eden Garden Centre’s Suzette Campbell and Robynne Torr braved the return to winter on Monday to get cracking on the beautification of the Imlay Street road divider opposite the Eden Fishermen’s Recreation Club.
More than 100 grevilleas and acacias were planted to create colourful hedging that fulfils the Eden Country Women’s Association’s vision for the strip.
“The idea was to have red, gold, yellow and white colours in a lovely row of hedging,” said Suzette.
“We decided to go with low-maintenance natives that won’t grow beyond a metre and a half and we should see them in all their glory next spring.”
The red represents Eden while the gold is for the CWA and for the botanists wanting a similar effect in their gardens, the colours will be achieved with grevillea lanigera, grevillea rhyolitica, phormium, correa reflexa, acacia howittii and acacia baileyana.
