The air was filled with laughter and hugs and the odd tear abounded as another Year 12 group said goodbye to Eden Marine High on Friday, September 23.

The farewell assembly started with a ‘pumped up’ entrance, which was followed by thank you speeches from students and gifts were presented to key staff.
Parting words of wisdom were offered by relieving principal Leesa Wungluck, and the Year 12 advisor Keith Barrett, and the musical talents of Year 12 were on display throughout the assembly.
The DVD presentation of the students’ six years at EMHS really highlighted to the students the many things they have achieved together as a cohort. Bronte Balodis and Ally Crowe, who created the DVD were thanked by other students for their time and efforts on such a valuable keepsake.
The assembly ended with the year group leaving to the applause of the crowd.
As the students said goodbye many of them reflected on their time at Eden High.
“School has been an amazing experience and we’ve made friends for life,” Clancy McKenzie said.
“We have learnt a number of skills that have prepared us for a future of employment and further education,” Ben Kopecky Mills said.
An impressive morning tea followed the assembly which was lovingly created by Year 11 hospitality students.
“We wish our students the best of luck in their upcoming HSC exams and future endeavours,” Mr Barrett said.
HSC studies begin
Now that their classes have finished, HSC will be the focus of the Year 12 graduates.
Almost 70,000 students across the state will sit their High School Certificate in the next few weeks, the highest number in history.
For many students, it’s the most stressful time of their young lives.
To help cope with the stress and to encourage students to study in a communal environment local Bega and Eden Libraries will be holding an HSC Lockdown before this year’s HSC exams in October.
The HSC Lockdown provides a time and place for any local student sitting the 2016 HSC to study in groups, with friends or by themselves within the Bega and Eden libraries.
Programs and Partnerships Officer, Scott Baker said Bega Library held the HSC Lockdown last year and students from both Bega and Eden have since asked for it to be held again before the next round of HSC exams.
There will be refreshments and pizza provided.
The HSC Lockdown will be held on Wednesday, October 12 from 5.30pm until 8.30pm at Bega and Eden libraries.
The first exams – English Advanced and Standard – will be held at 10.20am on Thursday October 13.
