Eden’s Australasia group president Peter Whiter said work would start on gardening and maintenance in the courtyard on the post office corner as well as removing old banners from the historic building.

Mr Whiter also announced plans for a major fundraiser in November, with proceeds from a concert to go towards the restoration of the facade on the circa 1904 hotel.

News of the working bee and fundraising activity come as a development application for the former Hotel Australasia site is finalised by planning consultant Allen Grimwood of Zenith Planning in Moruya.

The DA is expected to be submitted to council this week and may be debated by the new council as early as October 12.

Mr Whiter announced this week that Australian country rock and blues band, Stormcellar, will head the lineup of talent at the concert at George Brown Memorial Oval on Saturday, November 26.

The lineup also includes Eden musician Brett Ralph and pub band Mewstone Rock, with other local talent to be given the opportunity of performing.

The afternoon of entertainment, which will include food and market stalls, will get underway at 2pm and wind up at 6pm.
