For most of us here in Eden, this is all too much for us to understand or really appreciate.
We aren’t world class athletes and therefore we find it difficult to consider competing at such an elite level.
I don’t think that too many of us have gone and bought tickets to go to Brazil to be able to see some of these events actually happen.
But there can be no doubt that for those athletes and competitors who are able to contest the various events, this will be the opportunity of a lifetime.
For some, there is a great anticipation of achieving the reward of a gold medal. For others, just being able to represent their country will be ample reward.
Those of us here in Eden might not be competing in Brazil but, we are in a race and we need to be making the effort to do our best.
We are in a struggle to earn a place in heaven with God for the rest of eternity.
The Apostle Paul wrote the following to a young friend of his, Timothy, “.. I have done my best in the race, I have run the full distance and I have kept the faith. And now there is waiting for me the prize of victory awarded for a righteous life.”
Are we competing at the best we can to get the reward of knowing God is pleased with your effort?
