Officials said an icy cold morning met the finalists with arctic winds and just patches of sunshine.
However, the two teams were undeterred by the conditions and hit the greens for a closely fought match up.
Peg Davey’s team of Elaine Wright, Jan Pyke and Robyn Symonds started well with 5 shots after the first 2 ends. Over the next 4 ends, Margaret Millman’s team of Judy Russell, Jenny Roberts and Carolyn Rogers drew level with a score of 5. Davy’s more experienced team built on their small lead during the middle of the game to decisively win the match 24 to 10 after 21 ends. The next Club championship will be the Major/Minor Pairs in August.
Last Tuesday 22 social bowlers met on Eden’s greens in perfect sunny weather to play 3 games of triples and 1 game of pairs. Winners with 6 points were Jenny Roberts, Ken Clarke and Kath Rogers.
