Mr Stallard wanted to quell the concerns of a large group of Sunshine Bay residents about plans for a development at the site.
The group is concerned about a development application before council for a multi-purpose church centre on six hectares of church land on the less developed side of George Bass Drive.
As well as the visual impact of size of such a development, they are particularly worried about the prospect of a “wellness centre,” a rehabilitation centre for up to 10 men in the middle of their neighbourhood.
However, Mr Stallard believes the residents can relax.
“There is nothing to worry about,” he said.
“We have no plans and no money to build anything in the near future and the need for the wellness centre has been met elsewhere, so that won’t be happening, and nor will other things that were to be housed there.”
“We only have the DA in to satisfy council requirements in case we did want to build something in the future, but we have no plans to build anything.”
“It will sit as it is and we may sell the land in the next three to five years.”
Nearly 50 residents gathered at the site on Saturday, and were joined by Eurobodalla Shire Councillors Rob Pollock and Milton Leslight, who offered their support.
Group spokesman Jay Post said that Eurobodalla Shire Council has been uncooperative with providing them with information about the development and heeding their concerns.
“We have a problem with the whole process,” he said.
