Ms Sheaves said she was “very touched” by the gesture.
“But I just don’t think I do enough!” Ms Sheaves said on Monday. “I thought there were others who would get it long before I would.”
Ms Sheaves said she’s only the ninth person in the museum’s 80 year history who has received the Life Member accolade, describing it as simply “wow”.
Over 40 friends and guests gathered at the museum last Saturday June 25 for the investiture, which also doubled as Ms Sheaves’ 80th birthday party.
Museum president Jack Dickenson presented Ms Sheaves with an ornate badge and certificate, and spoke of Ms Sheaves’ tireless work as EKWM’s Friends’ Coordinator.
Ms Sheaves said she hopes more “young ones” will join the museum, and continue her work into the future.
