That memorable line and tune has imprinted itself on the minds of thousands of Australians, young and old.
So it was not surprising to see many adults having just as much as kids when The Wiggles came to Bega.
Two shows were performed at the Bega Valley Commemorative Civic Centre on Monday, June 20, with both selling out.
Children ran around the packed venue, some too excited to speak.
Erin Threlfall of Pambula Beach came to The Wiggles with her kids Ewan and Amelia Reynolds and said they were all very stoked to see the band.
“We bought the tickets as soon as they came out!” she said. “We have to support these events because otherwise the kids won’t get them at all.”
Her friend Theresa Smith of Millingandi, who brought Daniel and Joshua Smith, said she was excited to see the blue Wiggle, Anthony Field.
“It takes me back to the days of The Cockroaches,” she said. “I’m happy so many people could come out.
“Hopefully it means more events like these will happen.”
When the much-anticipated act came on stage, most of the kids in the audience got up to dance.
It was a high-energy performance, with the cast of Anthony, Emma, Lachy and Simon barely stopping for breath in between pumping out such hit songs as Hot Potato, Simon Says and Do The Propeller.
The show also featured special appearances by Captain Feathersword, Dorothy the Dinosaur, Wags the Dog and Henry the Octopus.
After the show, seven-year-old Evie Vassallo of Bermagui said the concert had been really good.
“My favourite bit was when Emma and Lachy did the ballet,” she said.
Wearing a T-shirt with pictures of the yellow Wiggle on it, it was easy to tell which band member was her favourite.
The world-renowned band are playing at over 100 locations around Australia for their Wiggle Town Tour, celebrating The Wiggles’ 25th anniversary of entertaining children.
Wiggle Town is also the name of the new Wiggles CD, DVD, and TV series, while Emma’s own TV series debuted on ABC TV last year.
This tour follows last year’s success where The Wiggles performed in every state and territory across Australia and sold out over 200 shows, performing to over a quarter of a million fans around the world.
This has helped to show The Wiggles are one of the most successful children’s entertainment groups.
The civic centre’s next event for kids is a Play School concert called Humpty’s Showtime on October 14.
