Both teams have struggled early in the season, but an extended delay off the paddock has given both teams opportunity to rest injuries and prepare for a return.
The Whalers will open proceedings when they host the Bega-Tathra Sea Eagles at the Eden Cricket Ground for a good day of Aussie rules on Saturday.
The top grade Sea Eagles are undefeated in the competition so far and are shaping as the team to beat, but the Whalers have been showing moments of brilliance across the park.
Nathan Sebire, Scott Munday, Pete Russell and Liam Wilkinson are all great on-ballers and could be key to shutting down some of the guns from the Sea Eagles’ camp.
A highlight women’s contest will also run ahead of the senior game with Eden sitting second on the competition ladder, losing just one game to the Sea Eagles.
Sunday rugby league fans will need to travel as the Tigers head up the road to face Cooma at the Cooma Showground.
There will be four big games on the day with league-tag play to kickoff at 10.30am.
The Bermagui-Cobargo Eels will clash with the Stallions in the reserve grade contest, then first grade will run at 2.30pm with the Tigers hoping to secure a win and get out of a recent lull.
The Tigers have been hamstrung by a series of injuries, but a good roster of players will be fresh for the round come Sunday. Cooma boasts a big front line, so look for a strong showing from Eden’s outside backs.
