In regular fishing news, reports from offshore bottom bouncers were few and far between, but the club said it appeared ocean flathead were back on the bite.
Good spots to try include Pinnacles, Tura Beach and Bournda and northwards all the way to Tathra with 20 fathoms proving a good depth for a bite.
Club members said this is the prime snapper season and good results are anticipated from Long Point, Hunter Reef, Haycock, Horseshoe Reef, Lennards Island and South Head at Eden.
Morwong remain along the reef edges together with the snapper and gummy sharks should improve as the moon fills.
Flooding in the estuaries has driven fish down to the entrances and this is a great time to target bream, trevally and tailor in the lower reaches.
Club members said there had been a number of fishing reports coming in from Pambula to confirm this.
The best results for anglers hoping to snag a good catch are during low tides where fish are found patrolling the channels.
All estuary fish respond well to soft plastics and bait-fish metal lures, live nippers also bring good results.
Members said despite extreme conditions over the weekend, including NSW’s biggest ever recorded wave off Eden, luckily the Merimbula Fishing platform remained undamaged during the storm.
Good catches of squid as well as salmon and tailor including the occasional kingfish maintain interest for local and visiting anglers.
