However, the Bulldogs are shaping as an outside favourite for the under 18s after knocking over the Bega Roosters and backing up with a rousing 42-24 win over the Sharks at Ack Weyman Oval on Sunday.
The young ‘Doggies were exceptional across the park with six try-scorers, while Kasey Maher led the charge to collect a double for his team.
Jake Mikula joined the try-scorers on the day, but led the charge with an exceptional kicking game.
Mikula cleared all seven shots on the post to secure a 100 per cent hit rate on the day.
Unfortunately, the first grade and women’s sides didn’t fare so well, going down 58-6 and 22-4 respectively.
Corey Schafer was the solitary try-scorer in the top grade as the Sharks ran rampant to put almost a dozen four-pointers on the board.
The Sharks led 26-0 at the break and extended their margin in the second half to continue an undefeated streak in the top grade.
The league-tag contest was led by talented half-back for the Sharkettes Ellie Doherty, who planted two tries on Sunday.
The Bulldogs will welcome a home round when they return to the ‘Dog Pound’ Sunday to face Cooma.
