Confirmed entries to date number more than 100 players. Outside of the local Mallacoota club, the largest single contingent is from the Bermagui golf club with 10 starters, followed closely by Tura Beach who have eight players taking part, then the Denarau club in Fiji who have lodged six nominations.
With a large influx of visiting entries, the big query is whether one of the teams from out of town can break the stranglehold local players have had thus far on the tournament.
The Mallacoota Challenge is a 2Ball aggregate team event and so for any player, including low handicappers, to do well enough in the tournament to feature among winning chances, they will need their partners to also play to or near to their handicaps on both days of the tournament.
