Through taking part in specifically designed lessons conducted during English, all students across the school learned about being active bystanders, and the positive effects they could have towards halting bullying.
The formal assembly had a “Bullying No Way!” focus, with SRC members handing out wristbands, students listening to a mother's heart-wrenching testimonial and a performance by Year 11 Drama students concluding the assembly with a powerful message.
Other highlights of the week included a musical performance by senior Drama students and a ‘side-walk chalk-drawing’ competition. Activities such as these were organised to raise awareness and to get conversations happening about where to go for help and ways students can help each other. We would like to thank the Narooma Kinema for their generous donation of movie tickets, awarded to the winners of the chalk-drawing competition.
The ‘Bullying. No Way! (Safe Australian Schools. Together)’ website has information for students, parents and teachers. It is a helpful, user-friendly resource explaining what to do to if your child is being bullied. It can be found by googling Bullying No Way!
