Community members are invited to attend an information session in the Captain’s Table Room at the Eden Fishermens' Club between 5-5.45pm.
Eden Chamber of Commerce president Jenny Robb said the information was the latest from the project team and covered both aspects of the port development projects so people could see how they inter-related.
Ms Robb said the chamber was excited to see “real progress” on the projects, including the closing of tenders on March 10 for a project manager.
It was a requirement that a preliminary and final business case must be prepared for all state government projects in excess of $10 million, she said.
Four design options – which will be on display at Monday’s information session – would be included in the final business case.
The four options provide for:
- 55-metre wharf extension with 70,000 cubic metres of dredging;
- 90-metre wharf extension with 70,000 cubic metres of dredging;
- 90-metre wharf extension with 230,000 cubic metres of dredging; and,
- 90-metre wharf extension with 230,000 cubic metres of dredging with the addition of a cruise terminal building and port gentrification works.
The estimated total costs range from $23.5 million for option one through to $45 million for option four.
Infrastructure NSW would conduct a “gateway review” of the business case to be followed by a NSW Treasury funding decision in June.
“Even more exciting is the possibility of more funding for development of supporting infrastructure, with a very real possibility that the state government will increase the figure from the initial allocation to a much larger amount,” Ms Robb said.
Fingers crossed that Treasury looks at [Eden's port projects] favourably when it brings down its budget in June
