The countdown is on and the fundraising has reached $20,000 as two local families prepare to enter The Great Escape car rally to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis (CF).

It’s a cause close to the heart of Pambula’s Ricky Holt and one that his mate Eden businessman Bryan Hammond is more than happy to support.
Ricky’s brother Dallas has three children, two live with Cystic Fibrosis and two with autism, one child lives with both.
Cystic Fibrosis is a debilitating disease that affects a number of organs in the body, particularly the lungs and pancreas.
“It’s a bit of a struggle for my brother and my sister-in-law,” Ricky said.
“My brother was putting in a car and I heard it was finishing in Merimbula.
“Bryan said he was keen to do a rally and I said ’Well I’ve got one for you’.”
The rally starts in Orange on Monday, October 8 and finishes in Merimbula on Thursday, October 18.
Along the way the rally will pass through Broken Hill and the Flinders Ranges, visiting schools and community groups.
There are four dress up events and the boys are looking for two animal costumes.

The rally raises about $500,000 each year in core funding for important programs including the CF patient data registry and awareness and advocacy activities to ensure continued and growing support for people who live with CF.
