Shrove Tuesday precedes Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent, and is observed by Shrove Tuesday is observed by many Christians around the world, including Anglicans, Lutherans, Methodists and Roman Catholics.
The term “Shrove Tuesday” comes from the word shrive, meaning “confess”.
Lumen Christi’s creative catering students provide pancakes, ice-cream and maple syrup for the whole school on this special day.
Recess is extended to allow for the hungry crowd to line up, purchase and consume their tasty treats.

Meanwhile, six Lumen Christi Year 9 students recently attended the Australian Catholic University ‘U@University’ program in Sydney.
The students, who were accompanied by teacher Russell Jennings, undertook the program which was conducted by the university to create awareness and raise aspirations for university study.
Over the course of the week the Lumen Christi students joined 18 other students from Western Sydney to experience life as a university student through participation in challenging and stimulating workshops and activities focusing on the disciplines of English, mathematics, science and the arts.
Students also had the opportunity to participate in Sydney-oriented experiences including visiting the NSW Art Gallery where they had their views challenged by contemporary art, Lady Macquarie’s Chair and the Opera House.
They also visited Manly Beach on the ferry, the National Indigenous Centre of Excellence in Redfern and a graduation dinner at St John’s College at the University of Sydney.
