Approximately 1,500 passengers and 700 crew sailed into Eden’s waters, with many disembarking for a full day of activities including an Eden Encounter bus tour, a two hour cruise around Twofold Bay, visits to Potoroo Palace and Eden Killer Whale Museum and high tea at the Seahorse Inn.
Cruise Eden’s Natalie Godward said the vast majority of the passengers were from NSW, and was excited about the potential for bolstering interest in Eden.
“Forty nine percent of the passengers are new to this cruise, which provides a fantastic opportunity to impress them so they’ll come back on their own,” Ms Godward said.
“Given that ninety five percent of passengers are within driving distance to the Sapphire Coast the opportunity for return visitation and long term benefit is even greater.”
No doubt impressing many a visitor was the colourful array of stalls awaiting them on Snug Cove, including a wildlife booth featuring a stuffed penguin and goanna thanks to NPWS, a sample table of award-winning aperitifs by Disaster Bay Chillies, a table of goodies by the Eden Tourist Information Centre, as well as novel clothing and accessories.
Joining the fun were many Eden and South Coast locals, drawn by the fun festive vibe which temporarily transforms Snug Cove each time a cruise ship arrives.
And everyone agreed; one of the best things that day was simply the sunshine.
