Travis Nemec was also a hopeful for the Pambula Swimming Club on the day.
Meanwhile, strong contenders and sisters in the girls’ final were Tiarne and Kelby Pointon, who have have won the coveted event repeatedly between them.
However, this year’s event went to Eden superfish Georgia Caldwell, ahead of Tiarne.
Rounding out the top three was another Pambula swimmer in Keira Hoyland.
The splash for cash is run annually during the Eden Swimming Club Carnival and is still presented by Kirby’s parents Russell and Julie over the last 16 years.
Former Eden swimming coach John Pelling said he was proud to teach Kirby and was honoured to see her being remembered for her swimming.
Pelling said he hoped the event would continue to honour her memory for many years to come.
“It’s awesome that you guys would spend so much of your time to come down and support Eden, I never met Kirby but I am sure she was a lovely girl and a great swimmer,” Kye said after claiming the top prize.
‘I’d like to thank Julie and Russell very much for supporting it and coming down. All the swimmers here today, even those who didn’t make the final, would be very grateful.”
Hundreds of swim races were held during the carnival as one of the last for summer and organisers were thrilled with the number of entries across the competition.
