In less than two hours Denise Switzer, Sue Horton, Cherie Mercado and Graeme Wykes signed up nearly 30 new members.
“Last Saturday was the first real attempt to engage with the Eden community on a personal level and it was a major success,” Mr Wykes said.
“Though some scepticism exists, several people joined the organisation once they realised that the object of the group was to restore the external facade, and re-purpose the interior to create a self-financing complex to showcase Eden,” he said.
The group has vowed to complete the project by raising funds via grant applications, dollar-for-dollar government partnerships, crowd funding, and in-kind support from trades people and suppliers.
Supporters will be outside IGA on Saturday, November 28, to continue their membership drive.
