Playing at Tathra’s home ground of Lawrence Park, the Sea Eagles took the crease first for a round with the bat.
The home side built from a steady start and a strong middle order stand to total 225 runs.
Unfortunately, Eden’s response was cut drastically short to score just 89 runs in 25 overs.
It was a steady start for Eden, picking off the Tathra captain Adam Blacka for 21 runs.
Coming in at third, Geordie Gibbs was caught out immediately and at 2/42 the game was wide open.
However, Tathra’s Chris Dwyer put on his best batting display of the season to quickly pile on 61 runs.
Eden captain Reece Wheeler clean bowled him to level the odds.
By the time Dwyer was dismissed, the Sea Eagles had already passed 150 runs.
A quick fold of the back order would have left a reasonable target for the visiting Eden side to chase.
Though it wasn’t to be, as the Tathra middle order piled on runs.
Peter Bennett and Rob Stevenson both made the mid 40s before they were returned to the sheds.
With a trickle of runs from the tail order, the home side rounded 220 when Stevenson was finally dismissed.
It was the usual quick contenders cleaning up the wickets for the Eden side with Tyrone Thomas bagging three, while Wheeler picked up two for the innings.
However, the startling result from the weekend was the pace in which the Eden order crumbled.
Quick wickets cut Eden side short at 89 runs
Opener Drew Mudaliar was dismissed for just a single off a catch behind by the keeper.
Fellow opener Andrew Evelyn got a little further to score 14 runs, but was then caught himself off the bowling of Dwyer.
Patrick Kearney chipped in 13 runs, while Wheeler aimed to steady the ship with 23.
Unfortunately, the run rate was lower than required and the wickets were tumbling steadily.
Tim Bowes added another 13 runs, but with just a handful of wickets left in play, things looked dire for the visiting side.
The tail order fell off quickly and Eden was all-out for just 89.
Despite the loss, the club was excited about the launch of the junior season.
The club will host two teams in the under 12s division and a team in the under 10s.
This weekend will see the A grade side head to Dalmeny to take on the South Eurobodalla Pirates on Saturday from 1pm.
