Good size salmon are about, but remain patchy on beaches and headlands.
They respond well to poppers and ganged pilchard and anglers who show patience will be rewarded.
However, you are urged to take care anytime you are rock fishing.
With warming temperatures, the estuaries are coming to life and some fine bream and whiting have responded to hard bodied plastics.
The club has heard reports of success around the oyster leases in the Pambula shallows.
Flathead are active about the bridge at Mogareeka and also in Wonboyn.
Tailor and Trevally are the go in Merimbula Lake.
Drummer are responding well, while kingfish are also reported from Morwarry, Long Point and Hunter Reef.
Morwong and snapper have been reported from Mowarry to Haycock.
Salmon and the occasional Kingfish can be caught from the Wharf at Merimbula as well as squid.
For the offshore fishers, whales and dolphins are still active and provide a spectacle.
The Mex Williams Memorial club trip and fishing competition is on the calendar for October 16-17.
It will be held at the Anchorage Holidays Apartments in Bermagui.
This event is open to all comers and no entry for fishing is required.
It is a fun competition with a barbecue on the Saturday.
It is a yearly trip in always proves to be a fun weekend away for members of the club.
