An electronic deaf ear turned towards the people like me who trusted you with their vote.
We’ve been played for mugs and I suspect so have many of your colleagues.
Were they convinced to vote for Turnbull on the strength of your opinion, the member for Eden –Monaro, the bell wether seat?
I am and always have been a swinging voter who voted for Whan, Snow, Nairn and Kelly.
I voted for you because you were standing as part of the Abbott ticket.
He is somebody I trusted to bring the country out of the mess left by a squabbling Labor party in which I had lost complete trust after the Rudd/Gillard debacle.
Last Monday, I was going about my own business trusting that the country was in safe stable hands when I found that the decent principled prime minister I voted for had been replaced by a shallow merchant banker who is hostage to the twittering of the inner city.
He justifies his move with claims to be a better salesman and communicator and all on the strength of polls.
I have never once been polled and wonder who conducts these all important polls and where they are conducted.
I also wonder when they became more important than the will of the people.
What in fact is the point of an election if polls are as decisive as he claims?
The only poll that counts was coming up in twelve months and I was prepared to wait to make my decision.
I’ve been robbed and I am mad as Hell.
The whole thing boils down to trust. Trust in the system, trust in the people elected.
I didn’t always agree with Abbott but I trusted him because he is a man of decent principles with enormous courage, not a self promoter hostage to fashionable interest groups but someone concerned about the country and ordinary people.
So who don’t I trust?
I don’t trust merchant bankers after all who was really responsible for the GFC if not them?
I don’t trust salesmen. I certainly don’t trust activists of any stripe. I don’t trust traitors.
I don’t trust people with no principles.
You and Turnbull have proved to be completely untrustworthy and in my humble opinion beneath contempt.
You have no principles, no morals and judging by your boasting no sense of shame or understanding of the great harm you have wrought.
No doubt it is very easy for you to wipe us off as the great unwashed, the plebs, the rednecks, the provincials Dr Hendy but you will find once trust in a relationship has gone there’s not much else left.
I’m mad as hell and intend working to make sure you are unseated in the only poll that counts.
Bring on the election.
Mary-Ellen Turbet
