The museum's acting chairman, Jeff Swane, said they were thrilled with their award.
"This was no small feat as the awards cover the tourism industry in the area from Eden to Wollongong," Mr Swane said.
“The museum was a runner up the last time we entered in 2009 and this year we have gone one better.
"Without the work of some dedicated staff and volunteers we wouldn’t be able to continue to present the unique history of the ‘killers’, Eden and Twofold Bay," he said.
Last year, 45,000 visitors toured the museum.
Hundreds of businesses were in the running for the South Coast Regional Tourism awards.
The Eden Visitor Information Centre proudly received a bronze award at the ceremony.
The competition was tough as there were five other visitor centres in the finals including Shellharbour (gold) and Shoalhaven (silver).
Kiama and Merimbula visitor centres were also in the running.
"We are very proud to be among the top," Eden Visitor Information Centre manager, Shannon Woloshyn, said.
"This is the fourth time the Eden Visitor Information Centre has received a South Coast Tourism Award and we were also inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2012.
"Thank you to our business members who support the centre and enable us to continue offering award winning services.
"Thank you to our board of management, you are an excellent team and a strong force to lead Eden into the future of tourism.
"Above all, thank you to our wonderful volunteers.
"Your hard work and dedication to promoting Eden is what makes us a top visitor centre," she said.
Other recipients from the Sapphire Coast included Tathra Beachside, which won gold in both the best tourist/caravan park and family friendly tourism categories.
Part-owner Frankie J Holden was thrilled with the award.
“This is fantastic, not just for Tathra Beachside, but for the town and the whole of the Far South Coast,” Mr Holden said.
