There was much anticipation and nervous energy as students performed their original group devised pieces and individual monologues.
Topics for the original performances were thought provoking and emotive, exploring Australia's treatment of refugees and society's addiction to technology.
Their teacher, Emma Hibbert, said she was very proud of the students.
"The students are extremely talented and all performed to the absolute best of their ability," Ms Hibbert said.
Written examinations in the 2015 HSC start on Monday, October 12.
The first papers are English (standard, advanced and ESL).
Other subjects on day one are Japanese and modern Hebrew.
