Well not exactly, but they have been getting up at 3am just to connect to the internet. 

They've been holding their phones up in the corners of houses, standing on roofs, the further most points of their backyards and on chairs; they've been doing dances on their verandas and developing wrinkles just trying to check their emails.

The good news is that the people of Greigs Flat have just been connected.

Part-time Pambula resident, Katrina Dragosevic, who is just about to make the move back to Pambula full time has been long frustrated about the lack of internet connection.

"I see people whinging online about internet speed or slight delays and I think, god, we don't even get a signal."

Ms Dragosevic has been travelling back to Pambula, where her family lives, every holidays to catch up with relatives and friends and study online.

Last year when she was home visiting her parents she tried to study online when her patience ran out and she took to social media to express her anger.

Ms Dragosevic said she started a conversation online about her need for internet and very quickly everybody got involved and had something to say.

Ms Dragosevic then called Telstra to find out what was going on.

"They said 'we've got copper lines out there and therefore it wasn't possible to get fixed internet anywhere from South Pambula or Nethercote, right through past Jigamy Farm,'" she said. 

"I thought, hang on a minute, we live in 2015 and we're talking about thousands of people (not connected)."

"So I called Splash Internet and they came out and assessed the area and found a good location for a tower."

"People (Splash Internet) like that should be acknowledged," Ms Dragosevic said.

Lisa McCooey, who directs Splash Internet with her husband Paul, said they checked out a number of areas including Jigamy and Nethercote.

"We've stationed the tower on a hill just near the Yowaka River on private property," Ms McCooey said. 

"The internet has now been active at Greigs Flat since last week and should service South Pambula right through to the other side of Jigamy Farm. 

Ms McCooey said the company decided the tower was a necessity because of the high volume of calls they had received from residents in the area concerned about internet access.

"We saw a real need and we like to give options,"  Ms McCooey said. 

"We're a local couple who live in Pambula Beach and we employ only local staff and contractors, so we're a small business who do really care."
