Can you imagine the fear that these people are going through and thinking that their gods are angry, when the reality is that this is an act of Mother Nature.
This natural disaster will have spiralling effects, which will take years for the Nepali people to recover from.
Their whole world has literally collapsed around them, particular the people in the hill regions, who live a very simple lifestyle on the side of the mountains.
Pebbles for Nepal supplies valuable water tanks to the Chepang Hill region and this area, has also been heavy hit like other areas in Nepal.
The region is not close to any highways or roads, international aid for these people is non-existent, because of their isolation and caste system.
Minchu, a young girl who works with Pebbles for Nepal has had contact with the people and learnt that here has been no aid given and is not likely to come.
The monsoons are coming and there is much shelter needed.
Because Pebbles for Nepal has shown their generosity in the form of water tanks these people are reaching out and identify this organisation as the first gesture of kindness, this is you ‘The Bega Valley’.
The people of the Bega Valley have supported and in their own way adopted this area over a three-year period by providing valuable life changing gifts in the form of water storage.
Now the need is a matter of urgency on a humanitarian level for these people.
Newborn babies from last year are now six months old, sleeping in the elements under the stars with little to no shelter, or in their cow or goat lean-tos.
A total of $11,000 has been raised over the past three weeks in the Bega Valley, along with an additional $5000 donation from Social Justice Advocates of the Far South Coast, people’s mindfulness of others in dire need has been outstanding.
The money that comes from Bega Valley will be going directly to the Chepang Hill people, and not linger or be dispersed to the selected few.
When you have nothing, you don’t need much but you do need shelter from the elements.
These people are directly communicating with Minchu and personally asking ‘Jenny to please help us’ and now the ball is in your court people of the Bega Valley.
This is your charity, Pebbles for Nepal is the carrier of your gifts and survival aid is desperately needed now.
Pebbles for Nepal would like to thank ongoing business for their continuous support: Sprouts and Tribal Eden, Beach Bites and Celebration Merimbula, Wild Rye, Fruit Market and the Service Station Pambula.
Uniting Church Eden, Daniel Champagne for donating 100 per cent of his CD sales from the last Bega concert, as well all the businesses and everyone who has singularly donated and supported this non for profit charity.
Big or small it all adds up to much needed aid.
The resilience and spiritualism of the Nepalese people is what will pull them through.
However, we cannot stress enough how important it is to help in the healing of Nepal now more then ever.
We need your donations, Bendigo Bank Pambula, BSB: 633 000, Account: 136 212 149, Name: Jenny Stewart/Pebble for Nepal.
