This April, 10 local artists will exhibit art work in the Spiral Gallery to commemorate some of those people who lived in and around the Bega Valley.
The artists participating are Anna Buck, Eva Beullens, Peter Otton, Jan Owens, Liam Ryan, Craig Cameron, Lydia McKeahnie, Sharon Cornthwaite, Ian Hibberson and Magella Blinksell.
Their stories are fascinating.
Artist Peter Otton, for example, depicts Captain Frederick Harden Otton who was in charge of all 1300 horses of the Light Horse Brigade that left for Egypt in early 1916 as reinforcements.
Otton was a farmer at Brogo and a renowned horseman.
He enlisted as a lieutenant and by the war’s end was a captain.
During the exhibition there will be a program of Floortalks presented by the artists on Tuesday April 28, and May 5, 12 and 19, at 11am.
The exhibition opens on Friday, April 24 at 5pm and runs through to Wednesday, May 20.
Spiral Gallery is at 47 Church St, Bega.
