The Governor and his wife were shown along the section of the historic Bundian Way by project officer, John Blay.
They saw important cultural sites of the area and proposed developments at Bilgalera (Fisheries Beach).
What most impressed the couple was the cultural importance of these places which also had remarkable beauty.
The Governor and Mrs Hurley said they looked forward to returning when trackworks around the bay have been completed so they could walk the entire scenic route from Eden.
At the Keeping Place (Culture Centre Monaroo Bobberer Gudu) at Jigamy they met other staff working on the project and saw exhibitions illustrating the Bundian Way.
The collection of Oswald Brierly's 1840s drawings and painting interested them especially because they had just walked the places he illustrated.
Lunch was provided at Twofold Corporation, Jigamy, where His Excellency and Mrs Hurley met Aboriginal Elders and staff, and inspected the many resources at the centre.
Spirited discussions centred on the art of the region and the potential for creating jobs.
