Group 16 officials set up the season’s draw from a hat and Batemans Bay’s first game will be away against Cooma on March 22.
The Tigers first home game in Group 16 will be the following weekend against Narooma.
The other matches in round one will be Bombala at home against Candelo-Bemboka, Pambula-Tathra at home to Eden, and Narooma hosting Bega in a grand final rematch.
Moruya Sharks will have the bye.
The club reminds all players that registration and insurance payments should begin now and that Country Rugby League (CRL) has stated only registered and insured players will be able to play.
Training shirts, hoodies and polo shirts have been ordered and will be given to players when their registration payments are made.
There will be a family barbecue day at the Bayview Hotel beer garden on February 8 and all players, sponsors and supporters are invited to attend to discuss the Group 16 season.
There will be no football on Easter weekend and the Bay will host the Group 16 v Group Six game at Mackay Park on Friday, May 1.
There also won’t be football on the June long weekend and the grand final is on September 20.
Bay Tigers’ president Bob Mitchell was rapt in the raffle crew which has been fundraising for the club.
“Gary’s crew ran the Friday night raffle at the Bayview which was well attended and the club also ran a sausage sizzle at Cameron’s Hardware last Saturday,” Mitchell said.
“Thanks go to Gary and Tich for their efforts at the barbecue plate.”
The mystery of the Tigers’ 1968 grand final ball boys identity was solved when Terry Parsons declared the unknown figure to be his younger brother Lloyd.
“According to Nipper, Lloyd now lives up Gosford way and works in Sydney,” Mitchell said.
The match was the Bay’s last grand final appearance in Group 16 and the Tigers were denied back-to-back premierships when it lost 13-8 against Pambula-Merimbula at the Bega Recreation Ground.
The Bay’s best on the day were Les Gregory, Brian Spencer, Bill Richards, Tommy Burke, Bob Mitchell, Tex Glover and Terry “Nipper” Parsons.
