Bega Valley Shire Council’s offices and libraries will close at 3pm on Wednesday, December 24, for the Christmas break.

Offices will re-open at 9am on Friday, January 2, at 9am, while libraries will re-open at 9.30am.
Council’s general manager, Leanne Barnes, said staff would be rostered on to handle emergencies and could be reached by phoning 6499 2222.
All swimming pools will be closed Christmas Day and outdoor pools will reopen on Boxing Day in Eden, Bega, Candelo and Cobargo from 10am-6pm, and Bemboka from 2pm-6pm.
The Sapphire Aquatic Centre will have reduced hours.
Roadside collections will continue as normal over the holiday period. All tips will be closed to the general public on Christmas Day but on other holidays, normal tip opening hours will apply.
The Central Waste Facility will be closed on public holidays with special arrangements for municipal waste collected by the contractor.
The shire’s libraries will close on Christmas Eve at 3pm and re-open on January 2 at 9.30am.
The Bega Valley Regional Gallery will close at 4pm on Christmas Eve and re-open on 2 January, with normal operating hours from Tuesday until Friday from 10am-4pm, and on Saturday from 9am-noon.
- Eden Child Care Centre: closed from December 23 until January 16;
- Eden Preschool: Closed between December 19 and January 28;
- Sapphire Preschool (Candelo): closed from December 19 until January 28;
- Sapphire Preschool (Bemboka): closed from December 19 until January 28;
- Bandara preschool, long day care and occasional care: closed from December 23 until January 16, with after school care closed from December 17 until January 28.
- Vacation care: the Bega Vacation Care program will be open to school-aged children from January 12-23. The program will be held at Bega Valley Public School and there are lots of great activities planned including cooking, waterslides, gardening, visits to the library and more. Places are still available and enquiries or bookings can be made to Bandara Children’s Services on 6492 4360.
Ms Barnes said she hoped all residents and visitors would stay safe and happy over the holiday period.
