Around 50,000 copies of the book have made their way onto shelves across NSW, the ACT and Victoria, scoring rave reviews.
Scott Walton’s Snug Cove sunset snap forms the centrepiece of an eye-catching cover, which also includes images of six other local attractions.
“Whether it’s on a shelf in Tamworth or in Wagga Wagga, it’s going to really stand out and make people want to pick it up and then come to Eden,” centre manager Shannon Woloshyn said.
“I emailed a copy of the cover to all the other visitors’ centres in NSW and Victoria, and it got so much positive feedback.
“We’ve also had great feedback from visitors and from the community, and that’s very important to me – the community should know what we’re doing here, because tourism is for the community.”
Ms Woloshyn said stepping up community involvement has been a big part of what the centre has done in 2014.
The front cover photo was chosen from a group of over 200 submitted by members of the community after a Facebook campaign.
The centre’s Facebook fanbase has grown from around 45 to 460 this year, and a revamp of visiteden.com.au during winter is expected to further increase the local tourism industry’s online presence.
Tuesday’s event also doubled as a ‘thank you’ to the centre’s many volunteers, as well as the advertisers who made the guide book possible.
“We’ve had a very exciting year – we’ve got new volunteers, a new point-of-payment system, new computers and a new tablet,” Ms Woloshyn said.
“Our visitor numbers are up by 4.9 per cent this year, which is fantastic and a credit to the volunteers.
“It’s a very exciting time for Eden with the wharf extension and Cruise Eden now having a paid position.”
