Competing in the ACT for a spot on their state team, Logan has been going to trials there for most of the year.
A highlight of the competition in Canberra was meeting Australia’s world number 52 Nick Kyrgios, which helped inspire Logan to push hard and gain selection.
Four players will make up the team who will play against the best 10-year-olds from the other states in the country.
“It has been a big effort for Logan, in my opinion he should have been selected months ago but the trial process has been dragged for way too long,” coach James Poso said.
“Having to play so many matches it was hard to find time for his training, but now there is a good window for him to improve before he goes to Melbourne.”
It will be a once in a lifetime opportunity to play in the environment of a grand slam tournament with lots of access to the players area just one of the perks of playing in the event.
Fellow Merimbula junior Maka Ofati just missed out on automatic selection, but still has another year in which he is eligible for the event.
Poso encouraged anyone making the trip to Melbourne to keep an eye out for Logan on the courts.
“He will be playing from January 28,” Poso said.
