The Poets’ Breakfast at the Whale Festival was an event that “brought tears of laughter and tears of sadness,” said David O’Connor.
Some of the original poetry impressed David so much that he is looking to collect lots of it for a book of Eden verse.
David is himself a published performance poet and songwriter, who has recited and sung all over Australia as well as in the US, Canada and the UK.
He has published 10 other CDs of his own original songs, and 2 books of his song-words and poems.
Now living in Eden and largely retired from performance, he has turned to production, and recently issued a pair of compilation CDs called Senior Moments 1 and 2.
But the wealth of local talent on display at the Poets’ Breakfast has set him on a search for more Eden writers to publish in a book of local poetry.
David is issuing an appeal to Eden folk to unearth that poetry you’ve been writing in secret and send it in for assessment for professional publication.
He’s especially looking for verse that is about Eden, its people, its work and pastimes, now or in history.
There’s probably not a lot of money in it, but it’s time to dig deep into the mine of Eden creativity.
