The newly launched Eden Brain Book made its debut at the weekend’s Whale Festival, proving a hit with families.
Loaded with all kinds of Eden-themed puzzles, the book is predominantly printed in black and white to encourage creative decoration, while also offering children the chance to learn more about Eden’s history, heritage and native wildlife.
“It’s designed to appeal to children of all ages – there are activities like colouring in and drawing for the younger child, and also activities for older primary school children like Sudoku and crosswords,” Access Centre manager Clare Whiter said.
“The questions in there are targeted so they can be answered through general observation around the town.
“They can perhaps visit the museum, read through the Magnet, look at eden.nsw.au online and listen to 2SEA radio to find out the answers.
“For visitors, it gives a bit of meaning to their holiday and something to remember Eden with, and for local children it’s great for rainy afternoons and school projects.
“We’re very proud of this book – it’s unique in that it’s entirely Eden-themed and something that the whole family can be involved with.”
The book was compiled by the centre’s volunteers over several months, and was printed by Excell Printing.
With Christmas just around the corner, it’s an ideal stocking filler.
“It’s small and light, so it can be easily posted,” Clare said.
“I’d like to thank our volunteers for all their work in putting it together, and Excell Printing for doing such a great job and getting it out in time for the festival.
“It’s on sale for $5 at the Access Centre and at businesses around Eden.
“All the funds we collect from sales will be put into other projects so we can continue to benefit the community.”
