While the town of Eden wasted no time in getting reacquainted with the magnificent HMB Endeavour over the weekend, an Eden of a different kind celebrated a milestone on board the 44-metre ship.

Three years ago, a seven-year-old Eden Hayes-Elliott was invested as a cub scout on board the Endeavour.
On Saturday, she was presented with her Grey Wolf Award, in exactly the same place.
District cub scout leader Nev Cowgill lauded Eden’s achievement, and says only the most committed cubs reach the status of Grey Wolf.
“When you look at what kids have to do to get a Grey Wolf Award, you can understand why only a single-figure percentage attain it,” he said.
“Full credit to Eden – she has worked feverishly over the last three years to qualify for her bronze boomerang badge in February last year, then the silver boomerang this January, and the gold boomerang in September.”
To earn each award, cubs must complete a series of tests in order to be presented with badges.
Eden fulfilled the criteria for her challenge badges by completing health and first aid training, participating in a variety of outdoor activities, and learning about traditions and ways to conserve the environment.
For her achievement badges, Eden chose activities that would teach her valuable life skills, including swimming, cycling, cooking and first aid.
The special interest badge followed, with Eden choosing to take ‘Their Service, our Heritage’, while she attended a special camp at Tabourie Lake earlier this year to attain a cub leadership award.
There were also many hikes, bike rides and camps along the way, with the biggest being a five-day NSW Cuboree at Cataract Scout Park, attended by 3000 cubs.
“We’re very proud of Eden’s effort and achievement,” Nev said.
“Congratulations and welcome also to the two boys we invested in the Great Cabin on board the Endeavour on Saturday.”
