“Yes, it is time again for the kids to watch their dads enjoy a day playing rugby union,” a spokesman for the event said.
Games will be held at the Tathra Beach Country Club fields and is the “most awaited rugby smorgasboard” of the year.
The spokesman said: “It is for those who thought their boots were more of a home to spiders than the vehicle to reclaim dim and distant skills”.
The Blue Vein carnival has one defining feature: all games played are scored at 2-2.
The aim is purely for enjoyment of a game and the fun won’t be spoiled by anything foolish, like scoring points.
Registrations for the day are $25, which includes entry fee and membership with the Blue Veins squad.
Full memberships with the opportunity to travel for events to play are $50.
Organisers are urging players to at least have ambulance cover and all players take part at their own risk.
Players of varying ages will wear different coloured shorts for protection, with older players not able to be tackled.
The club also hosts a number of rules to keep games moving and fun levels high.
A huge number of teams from the Victorian border north to Sydney have already signed on.
The carnival launches officially, with crab races at the Tathra pub on Friday night.
“It will the opportunity to share stories of props pinged, rolling mauls that covered 25 yards ... and just to recall a hell of a lot of fun with mates,” the spokesman said.
Over 35s are welcome to join and spectators are urged to head along for what will be a fun day of games and frivolity.
