Made possible by a $1700 grant from the Pambula & District Community Bank, centre manager Shannon Woloshyn said the new technology will help in more ways than one.
“The most important thing is that it enables us to continue being a progressive visitors’ centre,” Ms Woloshyn said.
“Everything is continuing to go online, and there are so many useful tourism websites and apps being developed by organisations like National Parks, so the tablet is going to be really useful in assisting our visitors.
“We’ll be able to show them our website and Facebook page to highlight different places to go and things to do, bring up maps of the area and the websites of our accommodation providers.
“It’s as up-to-date as you can get in terms of technology; it keeps us current, fresh and interesting.
“Our old computer was almost unusable, so the new one is much-needed and is essential for things like creating documents and recording stocktakes.”
Pambula & District Community Bank mobile relationship manager Philip Smith said the bank is thrilled to be able to play a part in enhancing a local industry.
“We’re very happy to support growth in tourism in Eden,” he said.
“We’re a bank that is here for the whole of the Bega Valley, not just for Pambula.
“All sorts of grant requests come in, so it’s always worth submitting an application for any of our Bendigo Bank community funding programs.”
