At the beginning of the season, their coach Scott Chittleborough set the goal to reach the semi-finals.
With a number of new and inexperienced players on board, this was always going to be a tougher task than in recent years, but they have managed to do just that.
“I only had one goal at the start of the season and that was to make the top five,” Chittleborough said.
“Probably 60 per cent of the side are new, so it’s been a great effort to get here.
“We had to win the last three games to make it, but they held their heads high and came home strong.”
While he is happy to have made it this far, Chittleborough is now hoping they can go a little further and they will get the chance to do that when they take on Jamberoo on Saturday.
They have had to play Jamberoo three times this season, so it’s fair to say they know what to expect.
“They’re a solid team,” Chittleborough said.
“We’ve had one win, one loss and a draw in our three hit outs, so it could certainly go either way.
“It’s definitely up in the air and it probably depends who turns up on the day, but I think we’ve got a great chance.”
The Jets have played in the past two grand finals and Chittleborough believes they are in with a chance of making it again.
Kiama and Milton-Ulladulla have been head and shoulders above the rest of the pack this season, but Chittleborough thinks there could be some upsets on the cards.
“Semi-finals are a funny thing, it can be a very different game,” he said.
“They’d be the favourites to play each other in the grand final, but pressure can do funny things.”
