The day consisted of class visits, a special assembly, sausage sizzle and finished off with a tabloid sports afternoon.
Parents and grandparents took the opportunity to visit their children's and grandchildren’s class room to view their work, join in activities and meet their teacher.
The children quite happily read to their family members and showed off their book work.
Then it was time for the special Education Week assembly which featured musical presentations performed by school students who were part of the Sapphire Coast Learning Community’s performing arts festival.
Certificate presentations followed an address by school principal John Davidson, who spoke about the school’s mission and core values.
He also pointed out that 2014 marks the 60th anniversary of the first Education Week providing an ideal opportunity to take stock and measure progress.
This year, the tagline for the original 1954 Education Week - 'Lighting the way to a better world' - was reused for this anniversary celebration.
Following a sausage sizzle the children were able to run off some energy in the tabloid sports, which included a variety of activities which also put the new playground equipment to the test.
The equipment was recently assembled and installed by Eden Social and Services Club Inc. (Essci), a group of volunteers who assist with community projects.
Stage three pupils had decided that the school required new play equipment, which was then purchased by the P&C and erected by Essci members.
