The future of Eden soccer is looking bright with the U13 team finishing the Far South Coast Football Association home and away season on top of the ladder.
The team was solid all season and finished top by just one point from Merimbula Green, which has been the other dominant U13 team this season.
The two sides played the major semi-final last week, with Merimbula winning 2-1, meaning the team will take on Bega’s Red team for a spot in the grand final, with the preliminary finals held in Eden this Sunday, August 26. The day’s soccer starts at 9am with the U13s taking the field for their match at 10.50am.
Under coach Mick Sawers, the team is confident of booking a spot in the grand final where they’ll again take on Merimbula Green in what’s expected to be a tight and close match.
More encouraging news for Eden soccer is the participation this year with five junior teams taking the field and 22 five- and six-year-olds introduced to the game through the Roo Ball program.
