Monkey bars, a jungle gym and a balance beam are just some of the new star playground attractions being installed by the Eden Services and Social Club Inc (ESSCI).
The basic equipment has already been erected, and ESSCI volunteers were again at the school on Saturday to put in the equipment surrounds.
The final stage will be putting in softfall material, which is being donated by South East Fibre Exports and transported to the school by McMahon’s Transport, to enhance safety for the students around the equipment.
The material is expected to arrive in a few weeks’ time.
P&C president and teacher Emma Bolton said the equipment, which was purchased by the previous P&C committee for around $15,000, will benefit students of all ages.
“It will be there for both fitness lessons and use in the playground during breaks,” Mrs Bolton said.
“It gives them a bit of variety and something other than ball games to do at lunchtime.
“It’s mainly aimed at the older kids, and the stage three students from last year were actually given the choice of what they wanted, and they voted for fitness equipment.
“But it’s there for everyone to use.”
Mrs Bolton also thanked all the local organisations involved on behalf of the school.
“We’re very appreciative of all of their work and generosity in installing the equipment for us.”
