THE Bemboka Pony Club’s mega rally day will go ahead on July 12, after rain forced it to be postponed recently.
Club president Christie Clarke said the Bemboka Showground was too wet, so the call was made to hold off.
“We had to hold it off,” Clarke said.
“We can’t help what the weather does,” she said with a laugh.
This is the club’s second annual mega rally day and entries are looking solid.
“We don’t have the exact numbers yet as the entries don’t close until Sunday.
“But we’re looking at having about 40 riders, which is similar to last year.”
The registrations close on Sunday, with a $5 entry fee to cover ground costs.
The day starts with a gear check at 9am, while riders are asked to wear “neat” attire including club polo shirts and jodhpurs.
Clarke said it will be a fun day out for junior riders with plenty of activities and lessons during the day.
“We will have showjumping, riding classes, sporting, western and camp drafting.
“It will be camp drafting, just without the cow,” she said with a laugh.
“We can’t have them on the showground.”
The club is also welcoming volunteers from visiting clubs to assist with programs on the day, Clarke said.
“Our idea was to pool our instructors and each club can provide an indstructor to help out on the day.
“They will be helping with directing the kids and holding classes.”
The following day, July 13, will also be a training day for the Bega Jump Club.
Clarke said the two clubs were not affiliated, but it provided members of both clubs the opportunity for a full weekend of activities.
“If they’re members of both, it does let riders come and do both days,” she said.
Clarke said she was excited to hold the day again and looked forward to the camaraderie.
“Bemboka is a great little club with a good number of riders and we’re making our mark on the equestrian world,” she said.
