Police said the 63-year-old was attempting to cross the road at the Princes Highway intersection of Mitchell and Imlay Streets last Monday at around 1.30pm, when he was struck by a Ford Ranger towing a caravan.
Ky Hallinan said his father, affectionately known as “Johnny Rotten”, came out of the coma on Saturday.
“He’s awake now, but he’s still sedated,” Ky said on Monday.
“He’s still in the ICU, so they’re not sure yet when he’ll be able to go home or anything like that.
“I flew over to see him, but I’m back home (in Western Australia) now.”
